Baldy Definitely Opening This Friday!
The latest update from our GM Andy Foster
It’s a busy time at Baldy Mountain Resort, but I wanted to write a quick post to confirm our opening this week. That’s right, we’re happy to announce that we are definitely opening as planned this Friday, the 8th December, with our Sugarlump chair and the magic carpet running. After the early November snowfall we had some mid-November rain and little snow afterwards, meaning we are not in a position to open the Eagle chair just yet. The Eagle chair accesses very rocky high alpine terrain and many of the big rocks don’t yet have enough coverage to make the terrain safe to navigate. Stay tuned for updates and keep an eye on baldyresort.com for snow conditions and lift reports.
With 2 of 3 lifts running there will be reduced lift ticket pricing in effect for opening weekend, December 8, 9 and 10. With regular lift ticket prices already some of the best value in Canada, opening weekend will be a great time to test your early season legs. Adult tickets are only $38, seniors 65 and over are only $19, youth aged 7-15 are only $24 and kids 6 and under are FREE (but must still collect a ticket).
For those visiting us for some weekday turns, please note that we will not be open on Monday 11th December, but will be on our regular operating schedule from Thursday 14th December.
The Tim Horton’s Baldy Bus will be operating from opening weekend (Saturday and Sunday) and provides transport from Oliver and Osoyoos. Seats are limited so tickets must be booked online – information will go live on our website this week. BaldyResort.com
Don’t miss out on all the activities we have lined up for the opening weekend and the First Chair Festival! The festival will include fun activities for the whole family: prizes and giveaways, free guided tours, local vendors, and a fireworks display. Ski, snowboard, compete in disc golf and let the kids have fun on a slalom course. You can even sip on some hot chocolate by the fire while your kids toboggan. Finish the day off in our newly renovated Baldy Bar featuring live music, drink tastings, a new menu, and new hours. View the event schedule HERE.
We want to make the First Chair Festival a legendary event and something you don’t want to miss year after year!
