Eagle Update

 In Uncategorized

To our valued Baldy Guests and families,

To alleviate concerns and answer questions regarding the Eagle Chair, here is a current update on where we stand:

Technical Safety BC (“TSBC”) recently received an anonymous report on the Eagle chair. The details given on what the issue was had been based on personal opinion and lack of knowledge of the lift. TSBC is obligated to investigate all reports submitted. Because of this, they chose to shut Eagle chairlift down to do an additional inspection.

During the inspection, TSBC determined one aspect of the operating system did not meet their specifications. The Eagle lift manufacturer confirmed that our understanding and handling of the operating procedures was correct for the lift. TSBC, as it has been communicated to us, say otherwise. Because of the different views on the operating procedures, we are not permitted to reopen the lift until this is resolved.

Since we purchased the Eagle, we have followed the correct manufacturers procedures for us to operate safely and have always passed our safety testing. We also understand that TSBC has complete discretion in applying the safety standards they deem necessary. Our staff are qualified, meet the TSBC requirements and will continue to follow CSA Z98 lift regulations.

At this point we do not have an exact timeline on the Eagle reopening. This will be determined on when we receive the necessary lift part, consult with the manufacturer on how best to meet the different TSBC requirements and final testing is completed. We are hopeful it will be running again before spring break.

We appreciate your continued support and patience and apologize for the inconvenience.
